Carr's Hill is the home of the University of Virginia's current President, James E. Ryan. President Ryan is the ninth president of the University, and the ninth to live at Carr's Hill. The President's home serves as the backdrop for university and community events. Since its completion in 1909, Carr’s Hill has welcomed students, faculty, staff, alumni, community leaders, two Presidents of the United States, and many other distinguished guests from around the world. Today, Carr’s Hill mirrors the University’s celebrated and complicated past while striving to serve as a beacon for progress under President Ryan’s 2030 Great and Good strategic plan.
